Tallinn,
January 9, 2004. The chief coach of Estonia’s skiing team, Mati
Alaver, receives the award of the most press-friendly public
figure at the opening ceremony of the Otepää leg of the World Cup of
Cross-Country Skiing on Friday night.
The
award is issued annually by the Estonian Newspaper Association to
public figures who act as an example for others regarding openness and
transparency.
Alaver
was praised by the Newspaper Association for his efforts in explaining
his field to the general public.
Alaver
is the first sports figure to receive the prestigious award, which has
been issued for ten years.
